Belle Chasse is located in a rural part of Northern Ontario off of the most northern highway that passes through the providence. Being in a place that is so remote and secluded, allows the opportunity to encounter wildlife that has never come into contact with humans.

HOSTS

Duringa Fall black bear hunt in Northern Ontario, they fell in love with the atmosphere that Canada provided. After their week long stay, they decided to seek out a new business opportunity as Lodge owners. The mission at Belle Chasse has is to provide families a place to come and experience the vast beauty of the Northern Canadian Outdoors.

HUNTING

Black bear hunting is a passion shared by the manager, the guides, and the owners. Year-round, the staff studies the local black bear population’s habits in preparation for the upcoming season.

Belle Chasse has one of the largest black bear management areas in Northern Ontario, spanning a massive 171 square miles. This allows them to properly manage the population and harvest some of the largest black bears in our area each year. An average black bear weighs in around 200-250 pounds; however, it is not uncommon to see hunters harvest black bear weighing in at 350+ pounds at Belle Chasse.

When hunting at Belle Chasse you can choose to hunt with either a bow or rifle.  An average bow shot will range from 10 to 25 yards, while the average rifle shot is between 15 and 30 yards.  If you desire to have a longer range shot, please make this request well in advance. Stands that can accommodate up to a 100-yard shot are limited.

Stand types include lock-on stands, ladder stands, and ground blinds.  Make sure you bring your safety harness for any elevated stand.

Fishing at Belle Chasse is superb for northern pike, walleye, perch, smallmouth bass, and many other species. The manager or a private guide can point anglers in the right direction to have the best fishing experience possible.
The mighty McKay is known for its Lake Trout fishing. It’s said to be one of North America’s best spots, and Belle Chasse is located on that lake system. We also have an outpost camp on a large island in McKay Lake for those looking for a more remote experience.
